Steps to get an Oracle Database Certification

The first step is getting the Associate Certification for which an individual needs to pass two tests to become an Oracle Certified Associate or OCA. This makes you eligible to work in junior  database management  as an application developer or a team member. To get this certification, it is necessary to pass any one of the given tests followed by Oracle Database 11g: Administration 1 test.

Step 1: Take any of the following courses

a. Oracle Database 12c: SQL Fundamentals 1Z0-061

This tests your ability to create, maintain, edit and retrieve data in a database. You get to understand database administration concepts like relational databases. The test also requires you to have SQL programming skills.

b. Oracle Database SQL Expert 1Z0-047

This exam is an advanced version of the Introduction to Oracle9i SQL. You need to learn 76 topics including control privileges, database objects and system-level queries. The questions need you to understand SQL in depth as mere memorization of concepts is not enough.

c. Oracle Database 11g: SQL Fundamentals I 1Z0-051

This exam is an improved version of the Introduction to Oracle9i SQL. This is an updated version and contains set and conditional operators as well.

Step 2: Oracle Database 11g: Administration I 1Z0-052

To pass this, you need knowledge on setting up secure oracle instances and database environments in networking environments. You should also know the concepts like Oracle Database Architecture, database backup and recovery and configuration of security instances.

Professional Certification

This certification helps you manage large databases and create large-scale database applications. For this, you need to take a tutor-led course, a test and a hands-on course.

Step 1: Be an Oracle Certified Associate

The prerequisite for this course is to have  OCA certification .

Step 2: Take an exam

Choose a course from among 50 Oracle courses available on the Oracle site and take an exam. You may go for the course that best suits your training requirements. Remember that you should attend a tutor-led course as self-study is insufficient.

Step 3: Submission of an Already Completed Course

In the third step, you have to submit a previously completed course from among 21 courses. You can also submit courses taken in the previous step.

Step 4: Oracle Database 11g: Administration II 1Z0-053

This is the Final Test of the Process.

Step 5: Submit a Course Completion form

On passing the exam, you may submit a course completion form.

Master Certification

This is the highest  Oracle certification  which lets you work in senior levels in the IT industry handling sensitive database applications and issues.

Step 1: Obtain an OCP Certification

The master certification makes it essential to take the OCP certification first.

Step 2: Complete two advanced courses

You need to take two courses from among 30 courses. But, the courses you took for OCP certification cannot be taken at this point.

Step 3: Submit a completed course

Submit an archived course from a list of 20 courses.

Step 4: Oracle Database 11g: Certified Master Exam 11GOCM

This is the last exam in the process of master certification.

Step 5: Fill a course submission form

Submit a form citing that you have completed all the courses to get the OCM qualification.

Step 6: Submit a Fulfillment Kit Request

Submit this form along with the previous one.

1. Oracle Database SQL Expert Exam Number:1Z0-047

You can take this exam after completing the first module Oracle Database 10g: Introduction to SQL. This is an online multiple choice based exam concentrating on SQL/PL SQL knowledge.

This exam is valid for Oracle Database 10g, Oracle Database 11g, Oracle Database 11g Release 2, and Oracle Database 12c.

It is a 2 hour (160 mins.) exam and has 70 multiple choice questions. Furthermore, to pass this exam you have to secure a minimum of 66%means you have to correctly answer at least 47 questions.

This is an online exam thus you will get your result after 10 minutes of completing this exam. Moreover, if you successfully complete this exam you will get an Oracle Database SQL Certified Expert certificate both e-certificate and printed certificate which will get delivered at your registered address.

2. Oracle Database 10g: Administration- I Exam Number:1Z0-042

This exam is also known by the name of OCA or Oracle certified associate. This is because on successful completion of this exam you will be an Oracle Database 10g Administrator Certified Associate.

Oracle Database 10g: Administration-1 is a 2 hour (160 mins.) exam with 84 multiple choice questions. To pass this exam you have to secure a minimum of 68%. Meaning, you have to correctly answer at least 58 questions. This is valid against Oracle Database 10g R2.

3. Oracle Database 10g: Administration- II Exam Number: 1Z0-043

After successfully completing this exam you will be an Oracle Database 10g Administrator Certified Professional.

Like other two this is also a multiple choice online exam which has 70 questions with a duration of 90 minutes. Similarly, to clear this exam you have to secure at least 70% which means 49 correct answers.

The exam is valid against Oracle Database 10g and Oracle Database 10g R2. On successful completion of this exam, you will get an Oracle Database 10g Administrator Certified Professional in print as well as an e-certificate.
