			What is the ASAP Methodology?
Last updated on 25th Sep 2020, Artciles, Blog, Business Analytics
What is ASAP Methodology?

ASAP Methodology is a standard SAP-related project preparation and system implementation method, developed and updated by consultants involved in the implementation of SAP software products. The goal of ASAP methodology is to assist SAP as a project management design in the most efficient way possible. It is done by effectively optimizing time, people, quality, and other resources. Using the SAP ASAP methodology, project management provides a roadmap for the optimization and continuous implementation of SAP systems in business processes. This solution has been developed to ensure successful, cost-effective, and timely delivery of all project solutions. SAP ( System Applications and Products, System Applications and Products) to optimize business processes is the identification of methods, tools, and other effective methods originally developed for SAP projects.

What is the ASAP Methodology Framework?
The accelerated SAP ASAP methodology is a roadmap covering the whole process. The whole process consists of 5 steps. Each step of the roadmap provides detailed plans to help document asap methodology in sap, collect, and implement recommendations. Each stage of the process is complemented by quality control that helps track deliveries and other critical success factors. Below is a brief description of each step of the ASAP methodology roadmap.
Step of the ASAP methodology roadmap.
Step 1: Project Preparation
The first stage is the preparation and planning phase for setting SAP ASAP objectives. There are 3 steps as standard:
- Clarification of the scope of application
- Forming teams and committees to complete the business process
- Describe the implementation phases of the project
Step 2: Business Plan
The main objective of this step is to meet with a common understanding of business processes to support the project. This is a detailed document filled in technical frameworks containing the requirements obtained during meetings (equivalent to Business Blueprint).
Step 3: Perform
This man is directly linked to step 2. Focusing on the implementation of all planning. At this stage, when the process starts, the signature is taken from the project managers and stakeholders. The following 2-item work package provides a general overview of the system:
It relates to the baseline and major scope.
The final configuration relates to the remaining scope.
Step 4: Final Preparation
Final preparation is the step that covers testing, system management, process completion, end-user training, and all other tasks that need to be implemented. Successful completion of the Final Preparation ensures that the organization is ready to start using the new system.
Step 5: Switch to Live System and Maintain System Maintenance & Support
This is the journey from a pre-production environment to a live project process. The most critical elements at this stage are the production support setup, monitoring system operations, and optimizing system performance.
Step 6: Post-Production Support.
In this step, the team helps the client to solve if any production issue came regarding configuration, master data change, or transaction issues. Also, the team will provide training to users and super-users. All the support documentation work has been completed in this step.
Advantages of ASAP Methodology
ASAP Methodology covers the entire project life cycle from initial assessment to post-project management. The ASAP roadmap also serves as a guide for SOA (Service Oriented Architecture) and BPM (Business Process Management) and is positioned in a transparent structure that is constantly reflected in business service.
- It is a proven, transparent approach that makes it easier for the project team to collaborate efficiently, reducing implementation costs, time, and risks.
- Includes precise risk management.
- Helps project management organize, implement, and achieve business objectives for better information management.
- Hosts board tools.
- It provides better results. It requires both soft skills and acts as a roadmap.
- Project times can be shortened.
- Better communication can be planned.
- ITIL incorporates a combination of best practice tools, including PMI, SAP, and others.
SAP
SAP activates a complete methodology, more comprehensive than any system SAP has built before. SAP customers have a vast range of landscapes, with an almost unlimited array of tech stacks, configurations and destinations. SAP has managed to create a system to upgrade, migrate or transform nearly any conceivable SAP landscape, enabling companies to modernize their software stack.
Differences Between ASAP Methodology and SAP Activate
- SAP Activate is more up to date than ASAP
- Activate adds waterfall and agile support to ASAP
- Activate improves on ASAP with Fit-to-Standard analysis
- SAP Activate combines ASAP and Launch into one methodology.
Conclusion
ASAP is increasingly being used in project management practices.ASAP incorporates standard design templates and accelerators covering every functional area within the system, as well as supporting all implementation processes. Complementing the ASAP accelerators, the project manager can create a comprehensive project plan, covering the overall project, project staffing plan, and each sub-process such as system testing, communication and data migration. Milestones are set for every work path, and progress is carefully tracked by the project management team. Effective Communication Weekly update meetings ensure full communication between the project team, the client project team, and project management. These meetings are used not only to update on project status, but also to identify any issues or risk areas that may threaten the project. By identifying these problems early, they are more easily mitigated and resolved, reducing their impact on the project timeline. Ensuring Quality and Mitigating Risk Project quality is verified near the completion of each project phase. Using existing ASAP checklists, these quality checks ensure that all tasks for the phase have been completed properly, that all relevant documentation has been kept, and that all tasks required to commence the next phase of the project have been completed. In addition to the specific project team, companies may use Quality Assurance reviews on all of its projects to ensure that experience gained on other projects has been taken into account and that the optimum system design has been utilized.
